What does pro rata mean?

"Pro rata" means "in proportion". A job advertised at £30,000 pro rata pays £30,000 a year for full-time hours, and proportionally less for fewer hours. If full time is 37.5 hours a week and you work 22.5, you work 60% of full time, so your salary is 60% of £30,000: £18,000.
